William Swain

William Swain is an innovative independent prescribing pharmacist with nearly 20 years of experience and a strong focus on integrating digital technologies in education. He co-developed the UCL clinically enhanced pharmacist independent prescribing course, where he lectures and leads clinical simulation efforts. Swain is actively researching the pedagogical impact of teaching in virtual reality and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance learning outcomes. In 2023, he provided consultancy to Nordic governments on pharmacist independent prescribing and is currently managing a South East London ICS initiative to evaluate DPP supervision models in preparation for the integration of prescribing training into the trainee pharmacist foundation year in 2025/26.

Amina is a leading researcher in AI ethics, voice technology, and human-computer interaction. With a PhD investigating AI-driven voice profiling, she specializes in how AI interprets human data and the ethical challenges this presents. In this course, she brings her expertise to explore how AI thinking differs from human reasoning, highlighting areas where healthcare professionals should be critical—particularly around bias, transparency, and decision-making. Her work ensures that learners can engage with AI thoughtfully and responsibly in clinical practice.
